THIS LAND

going back in history
when Native Americans
cultivated this land growing crops
hunting buffalo & trapping fish for food & survival
Natives used the buffalo skin for clothes
it's bones for tools the trees & dirt for shelter
always gave thanks to the Creater & Spirit

when foreigners arrived
instead of shooting stealing murdering & lying
they should've been more civilized
raping the Native women
than later calling the half breed child
Cherokees or Cheyannes
white men could've had the decency
to share their ideas with us
like the way Edison or Tesla
used our free land to explore
Natives could've worked & managed big corporations
we certainly didn't run away from foreign wars
my family has served

everything white man has prospered on this sacred land
should have been shared with the tribes
we still have our own land here
and what we use it for is our own damn business
we still share are profits and the white man
who visit our reservations
our people are filling up the population
some people were ashamed of Natives
we stand proud not only in America
but all over the world

there are famous Natives today in Music & the Arts
Robbie Robertson Mohawk who played with Bob Dylan
Jesse Ed Davis Commanche & Seminole played with Jackson Browne
Adam Beach Saul Teaux acted in the movie Smoke Signals
Oral & Richard Roberts Choctaw Ministers of the Gospel
Native tribes are in every area of life
doctors engineers military social workers
government novelist seamstress proud of my people
